For the Love of Lavender! Aromatherapy Workshop

Lavender is a distinctive and recognizable plant and its scent profile as an essential oil is also widely appreciated and recognized. But did you know that lavender grows in different countries?  As a plant, lavender relies on nature for its growth & survival. Lavender grown, harvested and distilled in France will have a very different scent-profile than one from Ontario, for example.

Hydrosols: A Powerful Tool of Aromatherapy

What is a ‘hydrosol’? An aromatic hydrosol, also known as ‘floral water’, is the water-based by-product of the distillation process used to extract the essential oil from a plant (e.g. rose or lavender).

Lavender Hydrosol • $12 … 60 ml ••• $20 … 118 ml

Aromatic hydrosols are extremely gentle & lightly scented; though they often surprise the nose as sometimes they do not smell exactly like an essential oil (e.g. lavender hydrosol).  According to Tisserand, a hydrosol is approximately 200 times less potent than its essential oil.

Hydrosols are effective as a natural and gentle skin treatment – spritz liberally on skin.  Add 30-60 ml to facial steam.

You can also use the appropriate hydrosol to mix a clay facial mask. Lavender hydrosol is the ‘secret’ ingredient in many ‘sleepy time’ sprays.

powerful yet gentle tool of aromatherapy suitable for most age groups, we carry a number of hydrosols including Rose, Lavender, Sandalwood, Geranium, Roman Chamomile, Peppermint, Neroli, and Frankincense.

These must be pre-ordered for pick-up at the market on Saturday.

Lavender Hydrosol

Lavender Hydrosol • $12 … 60 ml ••• $20 … 118 ml

Lavender Hydrosol • This makes a lovely toner, suitable for all skin types as it is gentle, cooling & hydrating. You may also use lavender hydrosol to help reduce mental fatigue during the day & use it before bed as a gentle sleep aid.  So gentle may be used with children. Use also as a natural plant-based option for jet lag & for after sun relief; especially sunburns.

How to use: Mist affected areas. Children as a sleep aid: mist hair & pillow.  Sweet dreams.

What is a Hydrosol: It is a co-product of the distillation process that extracts lavender essential oil from 🌱 material. Many times more gentle than its accompanying essential oil. Safe for children, the elderly, cats & dogs.

I have this on hand at the Guelph Farmers’ Market Saturdays.
