WORKING WITH ESSENTIAL OILS: AROMATHERAPY FOR BEGINNERS

Do you have a ‘nice collection’ of essential oils at home, but that’s all it is, a ‘nice collection’ because you aren’t really sure how to best use them, or how to make better use of them? In other words, you don’t use them for any purpose other then as ‘perfume’ and you don’t use them as much as you’d like, or should! Or maybe you are intrigued by this thing called ‘aromatherapy’ and want to learn more?

Well then this is the perfect class for you! Here is where you get to ask the questions you’ve always wanted to ask (and maybe hear some questions that you didn’t know you should be asking about essential oils!). A clinical aromatherapist, certified and trained with the Canadian Federation of Aromatherapists is here to answer and help you explore the multifaceted world of essential oils. In this workshop, you will learn how to evaluate essential oil quality and what to look for on the label, different methods of use (e.g. diffusing, topical use, bath salts), the basics of blending, why essential oils should not be ingested, and why blending is necessary when using essential oils on your skin.

There will be a lot of ‘sniff testing’ and a hands-on blending portion to this class. All supplies included to make and take a blend of your choosing!

WORKING WITH ESSENTIAL OILS: AROMATHERAPY FOR YOUR EMOTIONS

Learn how to use essential oils to balance your mind, mood and emotions; experience the immediate effect of an essential oil simply by taking an aromatic ‘sniff’. In this workshop, you will learn about the psychotherapeutic effects of essential oils on the olfactory system and the brain. Essential oils are composed of dozens, often hundreds of individual chemical constituents – some essential oils have either a relaxing or stimulating effect upon inhalation; while other essential oils have an overall balancing effect.

In this workshop, we will ‘sniff test’ a variety of essential oils. The inhalation experience is unique to each individual; whereas one individual may feel very calmed by inhaling lavender, for example, another individual may feel no effect or not like the aroma. This is your opportunity to determine which aromas you like best so you can benefit from their unique psychotherapeutic effects.

There will be a lot of ‘sniff testing’ and a hands-on blending portion to this class, where you will also learn how to blend essential oils safely for use on skin. All supplies included to make and take a blend of your choosing!
