Essential Oils in Colour • Rosemary Caddy • Book Reviews

In her book, Aromatherapy: Essential Oils in Colour, Rosemary Caddy has skillfully colour-coded chemical families, which helps the aromatherapist build their blending skills. This book was also on my reading list when studying for certification with the Canadian Federation of Aromatherapy.

For the advanced user of essential oils, the Caddy Classic Profiles allows you to visually connect particular chemical families with their presence in an essential oil. This is key safety information for the aromatherapist considering using essential oils high in ketones or phenols. The visual pie graph allows the user to see the breakdown of an oil’s therapeutic properties as stimulating, balancing and/or relaxing. This helps the aromatherapist make an informed decision regarding which essential oils to include in a blend.

And for those looking for some blending assistance, try Aromatherapy: The Essential Blending Guide, and take the guess-work out of which oils to choose for a particular ailment.

Thanks so much & safe blending.

Classic DewDrop Design • Khaki

Diffuser jewelry is a simple way to incorporate aromatherapy into the rhythm of your everyday.

‘Wear your Aromatherapy’ in style with one of our latest DewDrops designs.  Our DewDrop Aromatherapy Glass Pendants are hand-blown by a local glass artist.

This glass piece is one-of-a-kind.  This design is considered ‘classic’ because it is both in the shape of a ‘dewdrop’ and also has tiny ‘dewdrops’ embedded in the glass.

Like all of our DewDrops, this one has an opening at the bottom where an essential oil blend can be gently dispensed. You receive a special pipette to ‘load’ your DewDrop with one of our Turtle essential oil blends.

As the heat of your body gently warms the glass, so too does the essential oil blend gently diffuse.

This DewDrop also comes with a stainless steel chain – just to show it off a little bit more 🙂

Beautiful & Functional

The Book of Stones • Book Review

The Book of Stones, Revised Edition: Who They Are and What They Teach is the reference text I use when assembling my aromatherapy diffuser bracelets.

I see The Book of Stones, Revised Edition: Who They Are and What They Teach as an advanced reference text for those who work regularly with semi-precious stones. With the addition of 76 new stone profiles, vivid photographs and extensive descriptions, you will be able to confirm the ‘identity’ of stones you work with while learning their healing properties as well. These authors give you their perspectives of these healing properties – all of which will also enable you to best help those you work with.

I assemble my aromatherapy bracelets based on the properties and colours of stones.  I then ‘match’ a suitable aromatherapy blend with each. For more about my blends, click here.

Thanks so much.

Sleep & Aromatherapy Part 3

Dream•Weaver: Sleep Aid

Whether your challenges are falling asleep or staying asleep through the night, DreamWeaver may help. It is a carefully researched & developed blend of seven essential oils known to help with sleep, including Ylang Ylang, Lavender, and Canadian Balsam Fir.

$21 … 6 ml ••• $53 … 18 ml

We offer it as an undiluted blend, which means it is suitable for diffusion.  Try Hubmar’s Classic Ultrasonic Nebulizer  – read the manufacturer’s instructions before diffusing.  And Hubmar’s ScentBall Plug in Aromatherapy Room Diffuser; this one plugs into the wall.

As an undiluted blend, this also means it is at a 100% concentration level and should never be applied undiluted directly to the skin (despite what some Independent Distributors with an MLM recommend).  In order to apply to the skin (or in a bath) you will need to blend DreamWeaver in a base (think carrier oil, distilled water, hydrosol or bath salts).  You may add to an unscented lotion you already have on hand.  Patch-test before use.

My rule-of-thumb in terms of safe use on skin is one drop of DreamWeaver to 5 ml (or 1 tsp) of base .  This is the equivalent of a 1% concentration level.

For children, use 1 drop of DreamWaver to 15 ml of base (or 1 tbsp).

If you are pregnant or suffering from any health condition, please consult your health-care provider before using DreamWeaver or any essential oils.
